Mangalore,Oct 2:The Election Commission of India will take up revision of voters’ list in 178 Legislative Assembly constituencies in the State from October 1 to October 31, Dr. N S Chennappa Gowda, Deputy Commissioner, and DK district said.
Eligible voters can file applications for inclusion/deletion/correction of names in the voters’ list in offices of local bodies, city corporation/municipal bodies, Voter Facilitation Centres from October 1 to 31.
Officials would read out the electoral list in meetings of gram panchayats/local bodies/resident welfare associations on October 6 and 9. A special campaign with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections would be held on the three Sundays in October (October 7, 14 and 21). The final list of electoral rolls would be announced on January 5, 2013.
Eligible citizens may submit their application to the Electoral Registration Officer concerned for enrolment. Apart from this, citizens can also submit online applications by logging on tohttp://votersreg.kar.nic.inwebsite.
The voters could also learn the status of their enrolment by sending SMS to 9243355223KAEPIC_wzu123456 indicating their electors’ photo identity card (EPIC) number.
In addition, Mathadara Mithra Centres and Voter Facilitation Centres have been established in all Assembly constituencies to help eligible voters to include their names in the list, he said.
The 46 constituencies include 28 constituencies in Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Davangere North, Davangere South, Chamundeshwari, Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja, Mangalore North, Mangalore South, Bellary, Bellary City, Gulbarga South, Gulbarga North, Belgaum North, Belgaum South, Dharwad, Hubli-Dharwad East, Hubli-Dharwad Central, Hubli-Dharwad West.
